Congress suspended Praneet Kaur

Congress suspended Praneet Kaur, wife of former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. Praneet Kaur was suspended following a complaint by Punjab Congress president and other leaders.

In response to the show cause notice issued by the Congress alleging anti-party activities, Praneet Kaur said that she is free to take any action against her.

The Congressmen in Punjab who made allegations against me, have many issues against them, if you call my husband who was the Chief Minister then he will give you the details. Regarding their actions, he protected them because they were from his own party.

Kaur was the Minister of State for External Affairs from May 2009 to May 2014. In 1999, 2004 and 2009, Kaur became an MP in the Lok Sabha elections. He lost the Patiala Lok Sabha seat in 2014 but won again in 2019.This is not the first time that the Congress has issued a show cause notice to the former Minister of State for External Affairs In November 2021, the party had issued a show-cause notice to them seeking an explanation for their anti-party activities. Kaur said she had not received any such notification but only read about it in newspapers and social media..

In the 2022 state assembly elections, Kaur also campaigned for her husband Amarinder Singh, who contested as an ally of the BJP.
